Could I be turning into a softie?

I terminated one of my managers today, and for a brief moment... maybe 5 seconds... I felt bad for her.

Upper middle aged woman who has worked for this organization for the past 15 years and has little chance to find a rewarding job/career in this point in her life.

Watching her hold back the tears almost made me feel sorry for her, when I quickly snapped out of it.

Me? Feeling emotion?

Just a mere transient lapse in thought.

I never feel emotion.

relationships are a strange thing..

isn't it strange how you can love someone so much? how you can spend so much of your time with someone? almost every day, year after year. have your world revolve around someone? have someone be so significant in your life?

you can say so many sweet things to them, do so many caring things for them, plan your future with them...

and suddenly when you break up, you never see them again. forever.

..from someone who was your everything, to someone who is your nothing.

amazing.

I really like nice people who grew up as 1st generation children of refugees or immigrants from poor families and who have experienced poverty or low-income sometime in their life.

I want to meet some nice, hardworking people who fall under this category.

I've found that I get along really well with people like this.

One of my students in the pharmacy has a crush on me.

I found out when her teacher asked to meet with me in private one day... only to tell me that the student confided in her about her 'crush' on me, and how she wanted to ask me to her prom. Apparently, the only reason why the girl chose my pharmacy to do her co-op term was because she wanted to have me as her supervisor.

She is a nice, young, Chinese girl. Innocent, naive, supple.

I feel bad for her. I'm the wrong person for a young girl to have a crush on. Do you know how many girls' hearts I've broken?
